The Jewish Community in Themar, January 1, 1939

The list below identifies the forty -one (41) Jews who were living in Themar at the beginning of January 1939. It also tells you what happened to these people in the subsequent years. Only one of those Jews deported from Themar to a concentration camp, Meta Krakauer, survived. She chose not to return to Themar and instead went to Dinslakento live with her niece, Doris Frankenberg Lorenzen, who had been deported from Dinslaken in February 1945 to Theresienstadt. Doris had found her Aunt Meta alive in the Ghetto. Meta died in Dinslaken in 1955.
